Primate Mediation

Proving any dispute can be mediated, here’s one from the San Antonio Express-News that describes a dispute over monkeys.

Labor Settlement Reached

Last week, an acrimonious labor action was resolved in mediation.  An SEIU nurses local at two southern Nevada hospitals was locked out in December 2006.  Phil Satre, for CEO and Chairman of Harrah’s Casino, led 60 hours of mediation which resulted in the agreement.

Cheese Steaks

If you’ve ever been to Philly, one of the attractions that many people visit are the Cheesesteak restaurants on the south side.  Pat’s and Geno’s, across the street from each other, are at the “ground zero” for cheesesteaks.  Well, it seems that Geno’s has put a sign in its window that says: “This is America: When Ordering Please Speak English”.  The City’s Human Relations Commission has sent a cease a desist letter, claiming that the sign discriminates against immigrants.  Geno’s claims freedom of speech.

The commission has suggested mediation and Geno’s attorney seems positive to the approach.  It should be interesting to see if this resolves this constitutional issue.
